When I was preparing Hannah’s nursery over the summer, I would take my laptop into her very messy room to distract myself as I shoveled through a box village. Many times I would play The Donna Reed Show (because I love it) and it made me peppy about housework (I don’t care what you’re thinking:).

Then I started replaying episodes of Parenthood on NBC, and it quickly became one of my favorite shows.

I would highly recommend it–especially if you have kids–because it captures some truly funny moments that you find while parenting.

My husband even likes it too, which is a huge bonus when we are deciding what to watch when we turn on the t.v. One quote that I love from the show (that the husband got from therapy) is “I hear you and I see you.” We joke around with that one all the time.

Are there any good shows that are catching your interest??

I hear you and I see you. (Well, I don’t actually see you, but you know what I mean:)

For two years, I have heard every one rave about the show “Mad Men,” so I decided last week to give it a try. “Mad Men” is the name for advertising executives that worked on Madison Avenue in the 1960s. Just one episode, right? Apparently “Mad Men” is like potato chips because you can’t eat (or watch) just one. One innocent episode turned into 11 that I watched last week!! Who knew I had that much time on my hands?!

Dishes were neglected. Emails unanswered. And laundry piles grew. All because of a little show that I can’t seem to stop watching.

The constant smoking, drinking and adultery gets on my nerves, but the stories are so well written and I just want to find out more about each character. Not to mention, I am a sucker for any show set in the 50s or 60s.

But before my love affair with “Mad Men,” there were a couple others, like…

The West Wing

The Wire

Yes, I’ve watched every episode of the entire series. Sometimes twice! But they are amazing shows with talented actors and story lines.

So what is on your “must see” list? What are you always trying to convince other people to watch??

NOTICE: This is a very shallow, silly post. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking post, you may want to move down on your Reader:)

One of my biggest guilty pleasures is watching “The Real Housewives of New York City,” but this year, it’s felt more painful and much less pleasurable to watch. With so much bickering this season, and so little laughter, it’s hard to find anything redeeming about the show.

Each episode leaves me feeling a little sad, ready to go hang out with my nice, loving friends, and wondering why I tune in each week.

Perhaps I am hoping that Jill and Bethenny will make up? Perhaps I am hoping Ramona will explain her eye-bugging condition? Perhaps I just miss watching a lifestyle that seemed fun and glamorous?

Have you felt burnt by your guilty pleasure?

We started packing up our home over a week ago. Every day, I tackle a closet, drawer or cupboard. In some ways, this has been the least stressful move yet. But spreading this out for two weeks also means that I am too emotional about the “keep it/toss it/give it to Goodwill” debate. I’ve also gone through old pictures, cards and receipts. Yes, this is how I’ve been spending Jackson’s nap time.

Now I like stuff. But he more things we move out of the house, the more I like the house.

Since I packed up a lot of my cooking equipment, I cook more simply. Since we packed up the big couch, my husband and I get to share the little one. Isn’t it weird that the emptier my house becomes, the cozier it feels?

A month or so before my husband and I were married, we started watching “The West Wing” because he had several seasons on DVD. Just hearing the opening sequence makes me recall such sweet memories from preparing for our wedding, to the first year of marriage.

Since we started packing, we are re-playing the entire seven season series. I don’t know why, but I feel like we could accomplish most things with the “West Wing” playing in the background??

So that’s what I’ve been up to lately. Packing boxes. Feeling invincible because of a tv show:) Feeling loads of gratitude for Veterans. And loving on my family.
