I have just discovered the most amazing way to spend the afternoon.
Shortly after Jackson goes down for his afternoon nap, I feed Hannah until she’s milk-drunk. Then I eat the most delicious peach you’ve ever tasted, then take Hannah upstairs to nap with me.
I drift in and out of sleep–hearing the school bus drop outside with kids yelling down the street, the breeze of my fan floating over my face.
And Hannah’s neck on the top of my arm. One small turn to the right and our cheeks meet.
I had forgotten what it feels like when you first fall in love with your baby.
Here is a beautiful video that my friend shared on Facebook, and it is really capturing where my heart and head are at right now. What advice would you give to yourself right before you had your first baby?

Oh my gosh, Amy–I am crying like a baby! Love that video!!! Especially the “Google does not have a baby!” one–too funny and the one I would definitely go back and tell myself. Very touching. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jessica,
I know, I been crying too! The google comment made me laugh out loud! I hope you are doing well! It has been so fun seeing pictures of your summer on FB. I can’t BELIEVE how much Lily has grown! She was just a baby when we met and now she is a little girl! What a doll! Hopefully we can get together soon! Things around here are a little bit more calm:)
Amy
Thanks for making me cry!!! That was awesome..The truth of motherhood…And you do it so well….
I loved that video! Thanks for sharing it. Before watching I thought I would say “You don’t have to be ‘perfect’ to be a wonderful mother.”
I love that advice! It’s so true. Everyday I fall short, but I think they will know I love them and that I try hard to do my best.
So precious, Girl! Hope to see you all soon!
Thanks so much!!
