MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

Military Spouse blogger, Wife of a Sailor, recently started a weekly meme to learn more about our community of bloggers. She posts a list of questions and military spouse bloggers link up to share. Here are her hot topics for this week:

How did you and your spouse/significant other meet?
I had heard a lot about my husband before we even met. He was living overseas and I knew a couple of his friends. When he moved back to the U.S., he went out one night with some of our mutual friends and we met. I actually remember the first time we made eye contact! Then I made it my business to try to see him as much as possible. Apparently he had the same thing in mind because we met and were married in less than a year. We both just knew.

What is the best thing about being a MilSpouse?
You realize how strong and resourceful you can be, if needed. Most of the time I don’t feel particularly strong, but feel very proud when we’ve conquered situations that were very difficult.

For example, we moved from Kentucky to Arizona over my Christmas break and made the transition from teaching high school English to Kindergarten (and moved! and had an emergency root canal) in two weeks. It excites me to know that I am capable of such tasks.

What is the hardest thing about being a MilSpouse?

It can be lonely. Sometimes it is because you are in a new place and you haven’t met friends yet, and sometimes you would just kill to have your husband home to watch a movie on a Friday night.

What is your favorite dish?
Is it wrong to say pizza?? I can’t help it! I’m pregnant and huge and I love pizza:)

If you could change one thing in this world, what would it be?

I’d love to stop the oil leak in the Gulf. It’s unbelievable that oil is still flowing after 60 days.

Nothing wrong with pizza! I had an amazing grilled chicken/sundried tomatoes/artichoke hearts pizza with alfredo sauce yesterday.

Thanks for joining in! Hope to see you next week!

I like your answers, and agree that: pizza is wonderful, and the oil leak fiasco is unbelievable.

There’s nothing wrong with pizza being your favorite dish, especially if you’re pregnant. Congrats on the pregnancy by the way! Love the story about how you met your husband. It’s amazing how many mil spouse got married so quickly. I guess we are the kind of women who know what we want and want it now! Great answers!

I LOVE PIZZA!!! Your answer on the oil leak was a great one! I have never been to the beach and now worried that it may never happen. At least in not that area.
