We picked a name!

If you follow me on Twitter and were on yesterday afternoon, you may have heard me shouting this from the rooftop–err, TweetDeck–WE HAVE A NAME!!

Seven months of suggesting, negotiating and PLEADING–my husband and I finally reached a consensus. Seriously, it felt like Obama’s health care plan had an easier time passing than getting my husband and me to agree on a name for our first girl.

Along the way, here are some of the names I liked…

1. Nina
2. Lola
3. Elizabeth or Eleanor (to be called Ellie)
4. Ava
5. Julianne
6. Heidi
7. Juliet

My husband liked

1. Heather
2. Rachel
3. Jennifer
4. Eva
5. Ava
6. Avril
7. Juliet

Out of THOUSANDS of names we could choose from, we only agreed on Ava and Juliet. Ava was tossed because of its increased popularity in recent years, then there was one: Juliet. We both liked it, but weren’t ready to commit. (Every time I said the name it brought me back to “Romeo, Romeo…”

We went back to the drawing board and discovered that we both love my sister, Hannah’s name and we could combine that with his sister, Katherine’s name.

She will be named Hannah Katherine after her two aunts that are very near to both of our hearts. The name is so pretty, has Biblical significance and has family ties.

Perfecto!
