Pushing your boundaries

Tonight at 5:15 when my husband wasn’t home from work, Jackson and I went to our church’s Family Night gathering by ourselves.  Since we just started going to this church, we don’t exactly have, you know, FRIENDS, there.  So it was a little intimidating walking into the fellowship hall not knowing–where to go, what to do, and most importantly–will I be able to make friends or sit alone?!

After a few minutes, I was somewhat comfortable and sitting near other people:) I was outside my comfort zone a little…

It felt good.

According to self-improvement books, which I admit to reading, the discomfort and tingle in your stomach is a sign that you are on the right path.  Growth can be uncomfortable, uneasy, but so exhilerating.

Here are some of the things that are pushing me out of my comfort zone right now:

Attending a two-day conference (Blissdom) with 499 other women where I only “know” a few people and have only really met one in real life.

Leaving Jackson for three days.

Having another child mixed with the uncertainty of my husband’s job schedule.

Having another child and changing my routine with Jackson.

Attempting to create a business this year.

Creating new friendships locally because so many of my Army wife friends are moving this spring.

I also have more spiritual, social and parental goals that will send me to this place of uncertainty and thrill, but those are for another time. For now, I will tell you that Jackson will be going to a childcare facility tomorrow for a couple hours so that he will begin to feel more comfortable without me by his side–always.  Mom is already starting to learn that he needs to push his boundaries, too.  Even if he’s less than a year old;)

How are you growing/pushing yourself in the new year?  How are your resolutions coming along? 2010 is a powerful year.  Let’s all summit our mountains together.

Very proud to be “the one” you have met in real life!! :) hee hee You are doing very well with pushing your boundaries! You are an encouragement to me – to find more reasons to get out of my pj’s each day!! Lol

How exciting to go to Blissdom. I would love to try to go to something like that next year.

I think when we move I am going to push myself to really get involved in things like the FRG. It will be hard but I think I will really get to know people better that way.
