I am a horrible liar. Truly horrible. Not that I think this is an indication of moral superiority, but when it comes down to it, my face can’t lie. I definitely haven’t lied, but there are a couple issues that I said I would keep you posted on, but then remained pretty quiet.
So…I need to come clean.
There are some good improvements and some that I would rather not have you know. But, we’re friends, right?
Like—remember the time when I said I was going to make most of Jackson’s baby food, well that only lasted a few weeks and now Jackson eats pretty much everything from a jar or bottle. Yeah…it’s not the update or confession that I wanted to post tonight, but that’s me…imperfect, happy and occasionally the hot mess.
That’s what this post is all about. These are the things I would tell you about if we were meeting for coffee. So grab something warm and let’s get started. Here are my updates and confessions:

Post-Baby Weight Loss
Update AND confession: As of this morning, I am two pounds away from my pre-baby weight and Jackson will be eight months old next week. My goal is still 2 lbs. away and I want to get there, preferably before my husband returns. (I posted a couple months ago that I was 2.5 pounds away from my pre-baby weight, so let’s just say the last few pounds haven’t come off with lightening speed!) But, I am comfortably in my old clothes and look like myself again.

Working Out
Fun update–Just a few days ago, I joined a Crossfit gym, and it is awesome!! If child care were not an issue, I would go six days a week. You know I have been doing unofficial Crossfit workouts with other Army wives for a couple months, but it is great to have a coach who can assist with my form.
My friend Blair said that she felt almost Evangelical about trying to “convert” people to Crossfit. I feel the exact same way and have persuaded friends to try this awesome style of training. It will TRANSFORM your body and the way you look at going to the gym. It’s that easy, it will transform you. Sorry to be so preachy…Just try it!!!

Baby food
Confession: Check. You already know that dirty little secret.

Going Big
Update: Click Clack went BIG and bought the “purse of my dreams”!! It is the black Dooney and Bourke Dillen Satchel. It exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high, my friends. It is the perfect bag for a mom who needs a little extra room, but wants to look “put together.” The leather looks delicious.
Kelty Kids Backpack Carrier
Update: Recently my husband purchased a Kelty Kids Backpack Carrier and I did a vlog about trying it out. Well, I liked it, but ended up returning it because it just wasn’t the perfect match for my needs. The carrier was supposed to work for both hiking AND shopping, cooking and walking around with Jackson. But, it was just too big for me to use on a daily basis.
My Spirits
Confession AND update: My old boss used to ask me, “Well, how are your spirits?” when she was concerned about me. I am missing my husband like crazy, but Jackson and I are getting into a new routine at my father-in-law’s. It’s nice.
Overall, we have wonderful, relaxed days living inches away from the water. However, I have felt a little bit frazzled this week when my dog chewed up my father-in-law’s expensive landscaping. Or today when I was running around for the third day in a row to prepare a care package for the hubby.
I know exactly how this will make me look (I know) but, I’m going for it.
At one point this afternoon, I was in the backseat of the SUV, changing Jackson’s wet diaper on my lap (HUGE gamble here, people, why didn’t I wait…) with my laptop open next to me charging an iPod for my husband and looking for my phone because my husband wanted to give further instructions for his care package. (Just to answer your question–I changed his diaper in the car because I wasn’t sure if there was a changing station in Panera.)
Then I fed Jackson and did what any reasonable woman would do in this situation—I decided to breathe deeply, walk into Panera and order a cappuccino and the largest chocolate chip cookie they had.
To quote myself:), I told the smiling Panera employee, “It’s a chocolate chip cookie kinda day!”
But my family is so warm and loving and supportive, and I am making a nice routine here at my in-laws. It makes all the difference in the world to have caring people around you. It has boosted my spirits so much over the past couple weeks.
I think we might be totally caught up! Now, I don’t feel like I’m holding anything back. (For some reason, I felt really bad about telling you guys that I stopped making Jackson’s food. It looks a little flaky.) But that’s how you learn to be the kind of mom and person you want to be, trial and error.
And that’s my messy, lovely life right now.
I am so happy to share it with you.

We all have little set backs in life and sometimes we don’t notice until they all come out and we notice ALL of them at once. I always have hated when that happens but such is life. Keep your chin up and knowing you you’ll knock those 2lbs off in no time at all, even before you see your hubby! Good luck
Thanks so much, Jessi. It’s funny, but I think my posts are coming off a little “gloom and doom” ish, but I really feel pretty good.
I think the funny stories that pop up have the shadow of being a little sad.
Oh well!! Thank you so much for your love on my blog!!
